Audio Film Trailer Research

I couldn't find any audio film trailers online. I believe this is because since video has been available on the web, audio trailers alone have become irrelevant. Also it is much easier for a production company to attract an audience with a video trailer not an audio one. Instead of getting just audio trailers i have had to research video trailers and just concentrate on the audio on it. These are some examples i have found. They are all films of a thriller/horror genre

From listening to the audio on these clips i have learnt about many elements that a trailer contains, for example:

  • It often contains a voice over that mentions reviews for the film such as "critics are calling it the best film of the year" or "the daily mail gave it 5 stars" etc. This voice over also often says a tagline or slogan for the film.
  • Quotes or audio clips from the film, for example a funny conversation or if a character has a famous saying etc. This also gives the audience an insight into what the film is about. This is important it audio trailers as you cannot use props or scenery to show this.
  • Music that reflects the film, creates suspense for the film and gives an atmosphere for the film. For example classical music often represents a serious film or a fantasy fiction film.
  • The film release date, title and sometimes production company
  • The actors in the film, this helps to attract fans of the famous actors
